Dragonsoft Studios Site History --------------------------------------------------- Site Version 1 - 05/22/2006 to 03/20/2010 (It's not as much as it sounds like!) --------------------------------------------------- 05/22/2006 - First version of the site! Please bear with me, as most of the site is still in very early testing phases. 06/05/2006 - All pages are now up! Please enjoy, and spread the word to friends! ------------------------------------------------------- :: about half a year's worth of tumbleweeds later... :: ------------------------------------------------------- 02/07/2007 - I suppose it's about time I updated this place, eh? I finally feel as though I truly have a reason to, thanks to 2 the Ranting Gryphon. He was nice enough to mention my site on his show, and thus I've actually been getting some visits! New this update: New pictures in the Cosplay, Holiday, and Miscellaneous sections of the gallery! Slight updates here and there around the main site. Also people have been asking me about commenting in my gallery. Please check the FAQ for my reasons for not allowing them. My birthday is this Friday, so I may be a bit distracted if I get some new games. Don't let it dissuade you though if you wish to order a commission! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- :: about two and a half years of tumbleweeds, dust, cobwebs, and decay later... :: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 07/22/2009 - Ah, Dragonsoft Studios, what have I let happen to you? It's been quite awhile since I've updated... I really need to get my tail in gear and make a more definitive update. For now, all that's new is I've added a donation button on the side menu. Hopefully this will help in trying to aid me and my family. As most people who visit my site these days likely know, I also have an account on YouTube now, where I've been doing gaming videos. For those who know my site but not my work there, check it out at www.youtube.com/user/RoahmMythril 08/09/2009 - More and more, this place seems to be a stopoff point for things important to my YouTube channel, but hey, it's my webspace, I'll do as I wish with it! Anyway, I've added a poll for the question of what I should do next. It's only here on the main home page, and can be found over on the right-hand border. So tell me, what should I play next? 08/16/2009 - The poll is dead! Long live the poll! What I mean to say is, the "What should Roahm play next?" poll is officially closed. Thank you all for voting! As you can see though, a new poll is in place. Second place went to MegaMan Battle Network, and as such, I want to know how my viewers want to see that one? So please, vote for how you want it done. -------------------------------------------- :: and thus passed another five months... :: -------------------------------------------- 01/09/2010 - Alright, I think I've finally beaten Coppermine into submission, and thus the gallery is finally being updated with the fan art my viewers on YouTube have been sending in. As always, my thanks to everyone who has sent in fan art, it is always greatly appreciated. Sometime, I really want to take some time to give my site a bit of an overhaul, getting rid of areas that aren't as necessary, adding more of my own art to the gallery, adding more details as pertaining to my videos... make this a bit more of a base of operations for my current endeavors, as it were. Anyway, thank you for visiting, and I hope you continue to enjoy my work! You may have also noticed, there's a new poll over on the right. I'd like to know what people think should follow the MM9 Perfect Run Series. I have four choices, and here are my reasons for each : Megaman Network Transmission - Now that I have the Gamebridge, I can do this one. It would be a chronological continuation of the MMBN series, as stated since I was talking about alternating it with other projects. MM9 just jumped ahead since it was on the to-do list for so long, and now I'm finally able to do such. Megaman Battle Network 2 - This was originally the plan of what would have followed Silent Hill, had I not been able to get the Gamebridge. It would be a continuation of the MMBN series and having it alternating with other projects. Silent Hill 2 - Obviously, this would be a continuation of the Silent Hill series, as I got a lot of positive feedback on my LP of the original Silent Hill. This one does come with a bit of a caveat on it however, as I'm not sure when I'll actually HAVE a copy of Silent Hill 2. I ordered it from Amazon, but they sent me the wrong version, so I'm currently waiting on an exchange. Secret of Mana - This is what originally had been next on my priority list after the original "What Should Roahm Play Next?" It came in third, behind MM8 Perfect Runs and MMBN1. Where those projects fit in order now, I'm not sure, as a lot of other possibilities have come to light, but I still want to do them, and this would have been next on the list. So there's my reasoning behind this. Get to voting! 01/12/2010 - At this point, I think I've uploaded all my current fan art into the fan art gallery. I'm trying to organize it better on my system now to keep better track of it. If you've sent fan art but it's not shown, then please let me know so I can properly display it. In addition, I've put up a secondary poll. I recently received a complaint about taking too much time in my videos to display fan art. They complained about "an entire two minutes," though personally, I feel like it's the least I can do to thank my fans, and it didn't even cause me to have to split the video into two parts, everything still fit in one video. However, I want to know what my viewers think. Should I keep displaying fan art as I have been doing, somehow limit how much I show, or only display it in the gallery on this site? Please vote to tell me what you think. 01/15/2010 - I've decided to take down the poll asking how I should display fan art. I've decided to compromise. The majority of voters indeed said to keep the fan art in the videos, and I will. From now on, however, I'll display fan art at the end of the video. That way, everyone feeling the need to complain about fan art taking a whole two minutes (two minutes out of eleven I might add, which didn't make me cut anything from the video itself by the way) won't have to wait through it or go through the pain of using the scroll bar to skip past it if they're that anti fan art. For those thinking I sound annoyed in this post, you're correct. I'm actually rather upset right now at the people complaining about the fan art, when it really makes up a rather minor portion of the videos, and frankly, is the least I can do for people nice enough to send me things to make me smile and laugh. Unless they're using alts, I can't help but notice that the people being most vocal about their complaints on my showing fan art haven't sent me anything, but they certainly feel happy to complain when I acknowledge those who did. What really sent me over the edge however was a heart-felt message from GandWatch, who has given me several entertaining sprite comics. He wrote a message to me in which he sounded quite depressed, and worried that he was causing me problems with viewers by sending in his work. He sounded disheartened, as though no one wanted to see the works he created for others to enjoy, simply in the hopes of making others laugh and feel happy. He told me that I could stop showing his work in my videos if it would ease the trouble. The fact that someone who has dedicated so much time to creating these comics, just to try to make me laugh, would think that they were unwanted... Yeah, I'm not happy right now. Suffice it to say, I am not the sort of person who thinks he is owed anything. I create my videos for free. I stay up until 6 AM sometimes uploading them because of my horrible internet connection. I rarely have time to do anything purely for my own enjoyment anymore. Those who have donated money to my family, I give it completely to my family to help them out with the financial problems we have, taking not one cent for myself. In short, I provide my videos for free, expecting nothing in return. So when someone is nice enough to send something in, I feel it is only right to acknowledge and honor that fact. I am honored to have as many viewers and fans as I have, and in no way do I take that for granted. I am not an aloof sort who does not care about my fans, nor do I wish to be. --------------------------------------------------------- :: Two more months... My word, updates were sporadic! :: --------------------------------------------------------- 03/06/2010 - It's time for a new poll! With the MM10 Blind Run finished, I'll be going back to MMBN2 for now, but in the near future, I'll be doing the MM10 Perfect Run series! That being said, I'm going to let you, the viewers, tell me who to go after first. So please, cast your vote and tell me who you'd like me to Perfect Run first in the MM10 series. Once I have my starting point, I'll be doing the usual clockwise circle around the screen, so whoever is one spot counterclockwise to my starting point will be the cycle's "final boss." I'm interested in seeing the results to this one! 03/12/2010 - While the old poll is still running, I decided to put up a new one, with a simple yes / no answer. Once again, the subject turns to fan art. I love each and every piece I get, but more and more, I kind of feel as though I'm rushing some of the fan art segments. An issue also came up with my latest videos for Megaman Battle Network 2. On Day 6, I had absolutely no time left to do a fan art segment. I also realize a lot of the fan art I get in the form of sprite comics, there's really no way I can do them justice by filming them. So here is what I propose : I'm considering overhauling the art gallery, creating an entirely separate album from my own artwork, purely to showcase fan art. This gallery would be further separated into folders for each artist who has sent work in to me. I could then update this gallery perhaps twice a week, like once on Wednesday and once on Saturday, or something of the like to be worked out once this is in place. After updating, I would mention here on the main updates page which galleries have new images. I would still however likely display things in videos that I specifically requested from viewers, like Navi designs or such. Overall, I think this would be a good thing, it would display all the fan art that everyone has been nice enough to send in as it is meant to be seen, rather than squished and pixelated into a YouTube window. So, does this seem like a viable solution? Please let me know what you think. If you don't think this is a good idea, I'd also appreciate some possible alternatives left in the comments. As ever, I thank you for your input in this. 03/20/2010 - Fair warning, things are going to be a bit of a mess here for a little while. I'm finally working on upgrading the site. That being said, the fan art gallery is the first thing I shall be working on, but until it's finished, it's going to be a bit jumbled. Just bear with me, hopefully the full site upgrade won't take too long. At the very least, I'm actually working on it now.
